The equalities minister, Kemi Badenoch has received backlash after leaked WhatsApp messages were revealed.

A series of leaked messages were published by Vice World News. In the messages, the equalities minister said: “I don’t care about colonialism because [I] know what we were doing before colonialism got there".

"They came in and just made a different bunch of winners and losers," The equalities minister writes.

“There was never any concept of ‘rights,’ so [the] people who lost out were old elites not every day people,” Badenoch continued.

The messages were leaked by Funmi Adebayo, a previous member of the WhatsApp group 'Conservative Friends of Nigeria'.

However, this is not the first time Badenoch has been under fire after comments she made.

The equalities minister also received criticism after an audio-recording obtained by VICE was published, which she could be heard questioning same-sex marriage and using out-dated language.

There has not been any comment made by Kemi Badenoch at this time.
