Inspirational Black men: Steven Bartlett

Steven Bartlett has been named on a list of the most influential business icons for Gen Z. The businessman from Plymouth, who made his debut as the youngest Dragon to appear on Dragon's Den, despite dropping out of university at the age of 18, after just one lecture, he later became one of the founders of social media marketing agency Social Chain, when he was just 22 years old.



In 2019, Social Chain was valued at £160m, meaning that, at the age of 27, Steven was a multimillionaire. He and co-founder Dominic McGregor left the business in 2020 to pursue other interests.


At just 30 years old, Bartlett is widely considered one of Europe’s most talented and accomplished young entrepreneurs and philosophical thinkers, and says he is particularly focused on inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs and creators from a BAME background.


Steven Bartlett is a speaker, investor, author, content creator and the host of Europe’s No.1 podcast, ‘The Diary of a CEO’. In 2021 Steven released his debut book ‘Happy Sexy Millionaire’ which was a Sunday Times best seller.

Bartlett joined Dragon’s Den from Series 19 in January 2022, as the youngest ever Dragon in the Show’s history.

Steven has invested in and joined the board of Huel, which is the UK’s fastest growing e-commerce company internationally. He’s also invested in ‘Atai life sciences’ - a biotech company working to cure mental health disorders - and taken a role as an advisor - Other investments focus on blockchain technologies, biotech, space, Web 3 and social media.
