Black Talent Awards 2022 an outstanding success!

Congratulations to the organisers, winners, and fellow finalists at the first ever Black Talent Awards (BTA’s). What a night!

The event took place at the Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham, on 29th September and was outstanding from start to finish. I attended with my partner and daughter and one of the biggest highlights of the night was how inspired we were, being surrounded by wall-to-wall black talent.

The evening began with superb live music from the Note benders Orchestra, who played us all into the venue as we swept across the red carpet. The venue was decorated with style and every attendee was dressed like a winner!

The reception was entertaining with a 360 camera, a photo opportunity with a very life like Barrack Obama and interviews carried out by the very funny and charismatic comedian and broadcaster David Whitely.

For me, one of the outstanding talents of the night was violinist J Hope, playing classic soul and reggae hits to a captive audience of crooners.

Later in the evening we were entertained by the massively talented songstress Namywa.

The evening was hosted by multi award winning journalist Marverine Cole, and rising comedy star Babatunde Aleshe, who both did a fantastic job of keeping the crowd entertained and engaged throughout the whole evening.

Every nominee, finalist and winner were deserving, and it was an absolute pleasure to be among such talented, passionate, and successful black people. It was also a great pleasure to see employers acknowledge black talent within their organisations and we can only hope that this event is a continuous success that continues to celebrate the talent and contributions of black individuals and businesses across the UK.

Hat's off to the founder and team. A job well done. We hope to bring you post event updates in the next issue of Urban Kapital Magazine.
