For all the theatre fans out there, you are in for a treat. The National Theatre has streamed the 'Barber Shop Chronicles' online for free as part of its NT at Home series.
Inua Ellams' smash-hit play directed by Olivier Award-winning Bijan Sheibani, is a "heart-warming, hilarious and insightful new play" that "leaps from a barber shop in Peckham to Johannesburg, Harare, Kampala, Lagos and Accra over the course of a single day."
Barber Shop Chronicles, a co-production with Fuel and Leeds Playhouse, has been streaming since 14th May and so far has received 3,780,000 viewers online.
On National Theatre's YouTube Channel it reads, "Thank you to the amazing artists who have allowed us to share Barber Shop Chronicles this way, during this unprecedented time, when so many theatre fans can't visit their local theatres."
This never-before-seen archive recording was filmed live on stage at London’s National Theatre. The running time is 1 hour 45 minutes, with no interval and is suitable for children age 12+, a perfect show for the family.
But you must quick, as the Barber Shop Chronicles is available until Thursday 21 May 2020 7pm UK time.
