According to Home Office records, 3,343 cops received pay raises in 2020/21, although only 26, or 1%, were black. The results are "worrying but not surprising," according to DI Andy George of the National Black Police Association.

In accordance to alarming figures, black policemen received less than 1% of police promotions last year.

Although black officers make up 1.3 percent of the total force, they only received 0.8 percent of promotions, leaving them 17 percent under-represented.

White officers make up 90% of the force, but they received 91 percent of promotions, implying that they received 33 more promotions.

Sixteen black officers were promoted from constable to sergeant, seven were promoted from sergeant to inspector, and three were promoted to superintendent.

In England and Wales, white officers received 3,057 promotions, including 19 to the highest positions.

Last year, 100 Asian and 73 mixed-race officers were promoted, but none of the 21 highest-ranking positions were filled.

Although black and ethnic minority employees make up 7.6% of the workforce, they account for 14% of the population.

The findings were "worrying but not surprising," according to DI Andy George of the National Black Police Association, who urged for "concrete action measures."
