ITV colleagues from BAME communities sign up to new senior leadership programme.
ITV has launched a new programme called Amplify which has been created to provide more opportunities for 17 senior leaders from BAME communities, as part of ITV’S Diversity Acceleration Plan.
A number of high potential senior leaders from BAME communities have been chosen for the bespoke programme which is led by ITV’s Creative Diversity Partner Nahrein Kemp.
The 17 selected senior leaders come from different areas across the ITV platform which includes commissioning, business affairs, finance, production management, HR, content supply and distribution, legal, news and more.
The aim of creating Amplify is it hopes to excel leadership skills and match them with board level sponsors to champion their development.
This programme is running from March to July, which will consist of sessions on leadership development and coaching with the mentorship from industry coach Tracy Forsyth PCC, and panels with both internal and external speakers.
Furthermore, to put the new skills into practice, colleagues that are taking part in the programme will themselves be sponsors to ITV’s newly joined Kickstarters.
The government-backed Kickstart scheme is designed for 16 to 24-year-olds on Universal Credit which address the lack of job opportunities for young people which fundamentally gives the opportunity to Kickstart their careers with their first jobs.
Additionally, ITV’S Diversity Acceleration Plan hopes to bring representation from entry level all the way to senior leadership roles. Moreover this plan hopes for a progression in diversity in tv production overall.
ITV has been a stepping stone and a voice representing diversity in television. Initiatives such as ITV Rise, and StepUp 60 saw opportunities for internal staff and creatives from BAME backgrounds to progress in next level roles. However, more still needs to be done, and the production of Amplify will hopefully enable that.
ITV’S Group Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Ade Rawcliffe stated the importance of this programme: “We’re committed to delivering on our Diversity Acceleration Plan commitments to nurture a diverse and inclusive workforce at ITV.”
She follows on by stating that: “Our senior leaders play a key role in our culture. This tailored programme is designed to ensure they thrive. Not only will they enhance their leadership skills but this will help build their profile both internally and externally with their Management Board/PLC Sponsors actively championing them.”
