Buff Black Lives Matter hero Patrick Hutchinson muscles his way into a magazine cover shoot.

The personal trainer, 49, hit headlines after he was snapped carrying counter-protester Bryn Male, 55, to safety amid clashes at London’s Waterloo in June.

And as he posed and chatted for Men’s Health, the South Londoner said of his activism: “The opportunity has provided us with a platform to not only explain the changes needed to tackle racism but highlight the importance of education, fitness and discipline for our health.

“I’m proud to appear on the front cover of Men’s Health UK.

"The opportunity has provided us with an amazing platform to not only explain our story and the systematic changes needed to help this country tackle racism, but also to highlight the importance of education, fitness and discipline for our health.

"I hope the cover can go some way to inspiring men from all backgrounds to better themselves, both physically and mentally.”

Toby Wiseman, Men’s Health UK Editor-in-Chief: “As soon as I saw the now-iconic image of Patrick Hutchinson carrying Bryn Male to safety during the Black Lives Matter protests, I knew that I wanted to put him on my cover.

"Here was a man who exuded strength and purpose, someone rising above hostility and negativity, a person taking care of business.

"When I managed to speak to Patrick personally some five days later, that desire became a conviction.

"As someone who believes in the power of health and fitness – both physical and mental – to have a positive impact on us all, he epitomises this magazine’s ideals.

"Patrick is an authentic Men’s Health cover star.

"I’m very proud of what we have achieved together.”

Hopefully, his model of diversity and health will be an example of inclusion and activism, in physical, mental, and societal terms.
