B-Global is dedicated to helping black and ethnic minority businesses by providing business support in Nottinghamshire and beyond. The pioneering business network strives to help African, Caribbean, Asian and minority ethnic heritage businesses in Nottingham, Derby, and the wider East Midlands area.

Supported by a Board of Directors and an Advisory Board of 13 Black business owners, B-Global has a powerful background. Representatives from wide-ranging sectors including IT, training, commercial law, international trade, higher education, marketing, accountancy, business advice, media, and retail sales are all onboard. As a result, B-Global is well-placed to give local entrepreneurs the help and guidance they seek.

Evidence has shown that ethnic minority businesses contribute £25 million to the UK’s economy each year. Yet historically, BAME business owners find it difficult to access finance from traditional sources. They also tend to avoid taking up mainstream business support services. However, with such an under-representation of black-owned businesses in the UK in terms of supporting and signposting resources, it’s clear that a culturally specific service like B-Global is needed.

The organisation’s website statement says:

‘It’s our vision to support new entrepreneurs in acquiring the start-up funding they need. We help by improving ethnic minority access to business resources in Nottingham and Derby and by running training courses and workshops so business owners can learn and develop key skills'.

'Our long-term goal is to establish a directory of BAME businesses in Nottingham and beyond and to bring businesses together to celebrate our diverse cultures. We want to create a strong and thriving black business community hub and forum and provide entrepreneurs with a well-resourced business platform so they can feel empowered'.
