Since September 2018 the Violent Crime Prevention Board has worked diligently with communities, local authorities and the MET police to tackle root causes leading to violent crime. Its Principle Dr. Neville Lawrence OBE and Chair Dr. Angela Herbert MBE rapidly built a formidable board consisting of experienced professionals, community influencers, police officers, and practitioners to deliver its work in violent crime prevention.
Dr. Lawrence’s resignation this week sparked a flow of gratitude from board members thanking him for his leadership and support over the years. Chair Dr. Herbert said:
“You leave a terrific legacy, as we worked very hard to establish a recognised and respected Board. Your contributions will always be recognised, as the icon at the inception of the VCPB.”
In his absence Dr Herbert along with the team are pressing on with an ambitious growth strategy to develop VCPB hubs in cities across the UK, recruit new members including a new Vice Chair and re-launch a dynamic new website to better engage service users and industry partners in coming months.
This year has brought with it many unforeseen challenges such as COVID 19, but with passion and drive the Violent Prevention Board are leveraging on an opportunity to develop and promote new leaders around the country to champion progress in the prevention agenda through strategic mapping, networking and influencing across the sector.
Dr. Lawrence’s resignation marks a momentous time for the board as it plans to setup hubs in cities across the UK .
