SpinOff@3: The initiative to keep you active during lockdown

KickOff@3 is a collaborative initiative with the key goal to inspire, motivate, engage and support vulnerable young people from all communities and backgrounds through the medium of sport, music and the arts.

Given the unprecedented and trying times we find ourselves in, the 2020 planned KickOff@3 Tournaments have been postponed until it is safe and sensible to hold them.

Understanding how difficult this time is for many families and individuals across the country, KickOff@3 has devised a superb sports initiative to keep spirits up and us all a bit more active.

Committed to fulfilling their pre-lockdown aims of supporting charities, promoting health and wellbeing and providing opportunities for our young people, KickOff@3 welcomes a new lockdown project called SpinOff@3.

SpinOff@3 is a cycling challenge for anyone and can be achieved whilst socially distancing. Contestants are also in for a chance of goodies, all the while raising money for charity.

Although it is designed for bicycles, anything with a set of wheels can be used (except cars), such as scooters, skateboards and roller skates!

Further details can be found on the KickOff@3 website, however, here are some of the key information points you need to know to get started:

1. The challenge is broken down into three sub-challenges, giving a level of flexibility based on individual circumstances.

2. The project will take place between 3-10th June.

3. Contestants are required to pay a small fee of £5 per sub-challenge – contestants will have the choice of which charity their donations will benefit.

4. To demonstrate your involvement and commitment to the challenge, technology of some kind is required, e.g. a smartphone to capture video footage or a cycling-selfie.

5. Each sub-challenge is based on various criteria, such as ‘best nature photo’ and ‘best cycling costume’ – it’s all a bit of fun, isn’t it?

6. Medals, trophies and other prizes are on the table for winners of each challenge.

So, if you’re looking for a challenge that is fun and active, and also allows you to socially distance, spend time with your household members and raise money for charity, then this is the project for you!
